Best answer
Ammonia `(NH_(3))` has a higher proton affinity than phosphine `(PH_(3))` because it is more basic. It is because of smaller size of nitrogen atom and greater electron density on it as compared to bigger size of phosphorus atom and lesser electron density on it.
