Best answer

Given :

Mass of carbon (reactant) = 24 g,

Mass of carbon dioxide (product) = 88 g

To find :

Mass of oxygen (reactant)

Calculation :

12 g of carbon combine with 32 g oxygen to form 44 g of carbon dioxide as follows :

Hence,

(2 × 12 = 24 g) of carbon will combine with (2 × 32 = 64 g) of oxygen to give (2 × 44 = 88 g) carbon dioxide.

∴ Mass of oxygen used = 64 g
