Steps: Estimating MD through Median Steps: Estimating MD through Mean
(1) Arrange the data in ascending order. (i) Calculate arithmetic mean by adding up the data.
(ii) calculation the median M size of ((N+1)/2)th term (ii) Find out the deviation of the items from mean. Ignore (+) and (-) signs. Express it by |d\(\bar x\)| sign
(iii) Find out the deviation of the items from median. Ignore (+) and (-) signs. Express it by |dm| sign (iii) sum up the deviations
(iv) Sum up the deviations, and express the same by Using the relevant formula to find the required  answer. MDm= Σ|dm|/N (iv) Use the relevant formula to find the required answer.
\(MD_{\bar x}=\frac{\sum|d\bar x|}{N}\)
(v) After that solve the question with the help of the formula.

Calculation of mean deviations
sum up the deviations
