generally |x | < a
is equal to -a < x < a

so your question
| x | < 5

is equal to -5 < x < 5
therefore the value of x lies between -5 and 5

which are [-4,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4]
note the answer is -5 < x < 5
