Consider the following statements regarding properties of ferromagnetic domains

1. Permanent magnetization

2. Above Curie temperature, domains disrupt

3. Each domain is magnetically saturated

4. Atomic moments in individual domains are all aligned neither parallel to nor perpendicular to one another below Curie temperature.

Which of the above statements are correct?

1. 1, 2 and 3 only
2. 1 and 3 only

Correct Answer - Option 1 : 1, 2 and 3 only

Properties of ferromagnetic domains:

  • In ferromagnetic materials, the atomic moments are parallel.
  • Ferromagnets become very strongly magnetized in a weak external field and may possess a spontaneous magnetic moment even un zero field.
  • Ferromagnetic only exists below certain temperature, the Curie temperature.
  • Above Curie temperature the substance becomes paramagnetic.
  • The relative permeability of these materials is very large and positive
