Correct Answer - Option 3 : 52 mmHg

Concept:

  • Cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) refers to the pressure that drives cerebral blood flow to the brain. This blood flow provides oxygen to the brain.
  • Cerebral perfusion pressure is the pressure gradient.
  • It is opposed by two forces mean arterial pressure (MAP) and intracranial pressure (ICP).

Therefore, CPP = MAP - ICP

Explanation:

  • MAP is calculated by the formula of diastolic pressure (DBP) + 1/3{Systolic pressure (SBP) – diastolic pressure (DBP)}
  • DBP = 60 mmhg SBP = 90 mmhg
  • MAP =  60 + (90 - 60)/3
  • MAP = 180 + 30/3 = 70
  • CPP = MAP - ICP {ICP = 18}
  • CPP = 70 - 18 = 52 mmhg
