Correct Answer - Option 4 : Foothills of Himalaya

The correct answer is Foothills of Himalaya.

  • The highest rainfall in West Bengal is recorded at the foothills of the Himalayas - Darjeeling, Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri districts get the most torrential rainfall in the State (i.e. about 200-400 cm).
  • In the middle of June, the southwest monsoon wind enters West Bengal, and the monsoon starts. It continues until the end of September.
  • The lowest rainfall occurs in Mayureshwar (95 cm) in Birbhum (West part).
    • The western plateau of West Bengal receives low rainfall, around 100 to 125 cm.
