Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 2 : \(c~=~\sqrt{\gamma RT}\)

Concept:

Velocity of sound:

Velocity of sound according to Newton's formula after Laplace correction is given by:

\(v = \sqrt {\frac{{\gamma P}}{ρ }} \)

where P is pressure and ρ is the density of the medium.

As we know

P = ρRT

∴ Velocity of sound will become:

\(v = \sqrt {\frac{{\gamma P}}{\rho }} = \sqrt {\frac{{\gamma RT}}{M}}\)

for unit mass:

\(v=\sqrt {{{\gamma RT}}{}}\)
