Correct Answer - Option 4 : 1, 2, 3 and 4

Induction Furnace:-

  1. An induction furnace uses alternating current passing through a coil to develop a magnetic field in the metal, and the resulting induced current results in a rapid heating and melting of the metal.
  2. The electromagnetic force field causes a mixing action to occur in the liquid metal.
  3. The metal does not come in direct contact with the heating elements, the environment in which melting takes place can be closely controlled.
  4. Induction furnace greatly decreases scale formation and can often be operated by one person.
  5. The furnace requires less maintenance than oil or gas-fired furnaces.
  6. In induction furnaces the stocks are passed through induction coils in the furnaces. Delivery to forging machine operator can be effected by slides or automatic handling equipment.
  7. Slag cover is essential for the efficient working of the furnace.
