Correct Answer - Option 4 : Industry involving investment less than < 5 crores

Concept

  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is the process or study which predicts the effect of a proposed industrial / infrastructural project on the environment.
  • It prevents the proposed activity /project from being approved without proper oversight or taking adverse consequences into account.
  • ∴ Projects such as Mining, Thermal projects, nuclear projects and hydro projects etc has more impact on environment, ∴ need to get clearance from EIA as they cause adverse consequences.
  • As per EIA 1994 industry involving less than 50 crore investment is not necessary to get clearance from EIA
Note: There are lot of changes in EIA 2020
