Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 4 : The thermal conductivity of the tray

Concept:

  • Heat is transferred between a system and its environment when its temperature differs.
  • When we touch the ice tray, heat is transferred from our finger to the ice.
  • Energy is transferred by thermal conduction.
  • When you touch the ice tray, heat will transfer from your finger to the bit of ice and the ice melts results in a thin film of water between the finger and the tray.
  • Again the water film will freeze because the tray is so cold. Thus an icy bond will create in between the tray and your finger.
  • That is the reason, your finger sticks to an ice tray just taken from your refrigerator.
