Correct Answer - Option 3 : Noise pollution

The correct answer is Noise pollution

  • The Green muffler is a row of trees and shrubs grown and maintained to serve as noise absorbers.
  • It also helps in the reduction of air pollution by absorbing pollutant gases and causes settling of suspended particulate matter or dust generated by moving vehicles.
  • It is a technique to decrease the amount of noise emitted by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine.
  • Under the Green Muffler scheme, Ashoka and Neem plants are planted near the house or resident localities to reduce noise pollution.
  • The Central Government launched National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) as a long-term, time-bound, national-level strategy to tackle the air pollution problem across the country in a comprehensive manner with targets to achieve 20% to 30% reduction in Particulate Matter concentrations by 2024 keeping 2017 as the base year for the comparison of concentration.

  • Soil pollution is defined as the presence of toxic chemicals in soil, in high enough concentrations to pose a risk to human health and/or the ecosystem.
    • In the case of contaminants that occur naturally in soil, even when their levels are not high enough to pose a risk, soil pollution is still said to occur if the levels of the contaminants in soil exceed the levels that should naturally be present.
    • Biological methods of pest control can also reduce the use of pesticides and thereby minimize soil pollution.
    • The wastes such as paper, plastics, metals, glasses, organics, petroleum products, and industrial effluents, etc should be recycled and reused are also used to minimize soil pollution.
  • Air pollution is the presence of substances in the atmosphere that are harmful to the health of humans and other living beings or cause damage to the climate or to materials.
    • There are many different types of air pollutants, such as gases, particulates, and biological molecules.
    • Scrubbers, absorption systems, condensers, flares, and incinerator devices are used to control air pollution.
  • Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities.
  • Water bodies include for example lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, and groundwater.
