Correct Answer - Option 2 : Fats

The correct answer is Fats.

  • Fats have the highest gross calorific value.
    • The digestion of fats starts from the small intestine.
    • Bile from the liver makes the solution alkaline and breaks down the big fat globules into smaller ones.
    • Lipase from the pancreas breaks down the fats further in the small intestine.
    • Intestinal juice completes the process of digestion of fats and is absorbed.
    • Fats are found in vegetable oils, animal, fats and other foods like nuts.

  • About Carbohydrates:
    • They are sugars and starches and also give us energy.
    • They are found in many foods like cereals, vegetables, etc.
    • The mouth or the buccal cavity is the beginning of carbohydrate digestion.
    • Salivary amylase breaks down the carbohydrates (starch) into sugars with the help of the grinding action by the teeth.
    • Pancreatic amylase digest the further carbohydrates in the small intestine.
  • About Vitamins:
    • Vitamins were founded by Funk.
    • Vitamins help to keep the organs healthy, and the systems in good working order.
    • It also helps us to fight germs and therefore prevent disease.
  • About Proteins:
    • The chewed and partly digested food enters from the mouth to the stomach.
    • Here the pepsin released by it digests protein present in the food.
    • The hydrochloric acid creates an acidic environment for the action of pepsin.
    • Trypsin released in the small intestine, from the pancreas, digests the proteins which are then absorbed after the action of some intestinal enzymes.
