Correct Answer - Option 2 : Divyang

physically handicapped person is defined as a person who has a disability of locomotor and neurological origin which constitutes a disadvantage or restriction in one or more aspects of daily living activities, including work whereas a mentally handicapped child has limited neurological development.

  • The handicapped conditions may be temporary or permanent and mild or severe. Physically handicapped children may be multiple handicap issues with a mental handicap, visual or hearing impairment.

Divyang:

  • It is a Hindi word that means the handicapped person. Prime Minister Narendra Modi coined this word and give it a new meaning.
  • He wanted to spread some positivity and do not want the use of negative terms such as handicapped to be in use for them.
  • The differently-abled children feel difficulty in performing the basic processes required in understanding or using language, spoken or written. It may be seen as the imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, etc.
  • Children with learning disabilities are diagnosed particularly when children start going to schools and are engaged in academic activities with other children in the school. It may be caused due to premature birth, low birth weight, and malnutrition.
  • The differently-abled children should be taught in inclusion with the normal class to prepare them for integration into ordinary schools or society and to meet their psychological needs for security, love, affection, acceptance, and success.

Hence, it is concluded that the new term "Divyang" is coined for students who are deaf & dumb, blind, or lack some abilities.
