The correct answer is Only 1 and 2.

  • President and Vice-President are elected in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote and voting are by secret ballot.
  • The Vice-President shall not be a member of either House of Parliament or of a House of the Legislature of any State, and if a member of either House of Parliament or of a House of the Legislature of any State is elected Vice-President.
  • The President of India is elected indirectly by an Electoral College following the system of proportional representation utilizing a single transferable vote system and secret ballots.

  • The provisions of the election of the President are laid down in Article 54 of the Constitution of India.
  • The Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election Act 1952 led to the establishment of this Constitutional provision.
  • The act is also accompanied by Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election Rules 1974.
