Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC):

  • The Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) was developed by Govt. of India for new commercial buildings on 27th May 2007.
  • ECBC sets minimum energy standards for new commercial buildings having a connected load of 100kW or contract demand of 120 KVA and above.
  • It implements in the given state: Odisha, Punjab, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, UT of Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Goa.

  • Focus on passive strategies
  • Ease of compliance
  • Establish a baseline of energy performance
  • Address different building types in various climatic zones
  • Increase the purview of ECBC
  • Integrate other government policy standards into ECBC
