Nitric acid stains the skin yellow. Give reason.

Dilute nitric acid reacts with the proteins of the skin and forms a yellow compound called xanthoproteic acid. Hence, the skin becomes yellow. Cone, nitric acid causes blisters on the skin and is highly corrosive.
