Correct Answer - Option 4 : Flexibility method

Concept-

Displacement Method-In the displacement method of analysis, the primary unknowns are the displacements. In this method, first force -displacement relations are computed and subsequently equations are written satisfying the equilibrium conditions of the structure.

After determining the unknown displacements, the other forces are calculated satisfying the compatibility conditions and force displacement relations. It is used for indeterminate structures.

Force Method

Displacement method

It is also known as Flexibility method/compatibility method.

Unknowns are taken redundant forces or reactions.

To find unknown forces or redundant compatibility equations are written.

The number of compatibility equations needed is equal to degree of static indeterminacy.

It is also known as stiffness method.

Unknowns are taken displacement.

To find unknown displacement joint equilibrium conditions are written.

The number of equilibrium conditions needed is equal to the degree of kinematic indeterminacy.

Virtual work method

Method of consistent deformation

Three moment theorem

Column analogy method

Minimum potential energy method

The three moment equation in structural analysis is basically a flexibility method.
