Correct Answer - Option 1 : 35

Given:

If Geeta gives 5 chocolates to Seeta, the ratio of the chocolates with Geeta and Seeta will be 3 ∶ 2, whereas If Seeta gives 5 chocolates to Geeta, then the ratio of the chocolates with Geeta and Seeta will be 4 ∶ 1

Concept Used:

Concept of ratio

Calculation:

Let, initially, Geeta has x chocolate and Seeta has y chocolate

Accordingly,

(x - 5)/(y + 5) = 3/2

⇒ 2x - 10 = 3y + 15

⇒ 2x - 3y = 15 + 10

⇒ 2x - 3y = 25      ----(1)

Again,

(x + 5)/(y - 5) = 4 : 1

⇒ x + 5 = 4y - 20

⇒ x - 4y = - 25      ----(2)

Solving (1) and (2) get.

x = 35 and y = 15

∴ Geeta had initially 35 chocolate.
