Correct Answer - Option 1 : 36 m

CONCEPT

  • Velocity: The rate of change of displacement of an object is velocity.
  • Acceleration: The rate of change of velocity of an object is an acceleration.
  • Equations of motion describe the behavior of a physical system in terms of its motion as a function of time.

If an object is moving with constant acceleration 'f', initial velocity 'u', the distance traveled in tth second is given by:

\(s = u + {1\over 2}f (2t-1)\)

s is the distance travelled in tth second.

CALCULATION:

Given f = 8 m/s2; t = 5th s.

Since the object started from rest, so u = 0.

According to the equation of motion:

\(s = u + {1\over 2}f (2t-1)=0+ {1\over 2}\times 8 \times (2\times 5-1)=36m\)

So the correct answer is option 1 i.e. 36 m
