  • Anaemia is a condition in which there is a deficiency of healthy RBCs (which carries oxygen) in the body.
  • It is caused by the deficiency of Vitamin B6.
  • B6 (pyridoxine) forms part of the coenzyme for amino acid synthesis and glycogen synthesis. It helps in nerve function and RBC formation.
  • Its deficiency causes skin lesions, disturbance of CNS, and anaemia.
  • Symptoms of Anemia - The anaemic patient always feels weak and tired.

  • Normal anaemia is caused by vitamin B6 deficiency whereas vitamin B12 deficiency leads to fatal ''pernicious anaemia''.

 

  • Rickets - It is a disease caused by the deficiency of vitamin D. Symptoms include - Delayed growth, bow legs, weakness, and pain in the spine, pelvis, and legs.
  • Haemorrhages and the inability to form blood clots are caused by the deficiency of Vitamin K.
