Correct Answer - Option 1 : Momentum is double

The correct answer is Momentum is double.

  • If the velocity is doubled its kinetic energy is multiplied by four times.
    • And there is no relationship between the velocity and potential energy.
  • So, if the velocity is doubled, momentum also doubles.
    • Momentum = mass× velocity
    • Momentum is directly proportional to velocity.

  • The velocity of an object is the rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference and is a function of time.
    • Velocity is equivalent to a specification of an object's speed and direction of motion (e.g. 60 km/h to the north).
  • In mechanics, acceleration is the rate of change of the velocity of an object with respect to time.
    • Accelerations are vector quantities (in that they have magnitude and direction).
    • The orientation of an object's acceleration is given by the orientation of the net force acting on that object.
  • Potential energy is the energy that is stored – or conserved - in an object or substance.
    • This stored energy is based on the position, arrangement or state of the object or substance.
  • Kinetic energy is a property of a moving object or particle and depends not only on its motion but also on its mass.
    • The kind of motion may be a translation (or motion along a path from one place to another), rotation about an axis, vibration, or any combination of motions. Kinetic energy.
