Correct Answer - Option 4 : Zero

Concept:

Ideal fluid

  • Fluids that don’t have viscosity and are incompressible are termed ideal fluid such fluid does not offer shear resistance i.e no resistance is encountered as the fluid moves.
  • These fluids are hypothetical fluids that are they do not exist in reality.

Real fluid

  • Fluids that do possess viscosity are termed real fluids. These fluids always offer shear resistance i.e. Certain amount of resistance is always offered by these fluids as they move.
  • All the fluids that exist in reality are real fluids.

The property of a fluid that resists the growth of shear deformation in itself is called viscosity.

  • This is the same as shear stress in solids.
  • Ideal fluid: The fluids that don't have viscosity and are incompressible.
  • Ideal fluids have zero surface tension.
  • Ideal fluids have infinite bulk modulus.

Explanation:

  • As the ideal fluids are the fluids that have no resistance to the shear stress between the layers.
  • Therefore, we can say that it has zero viscosity.

Hence, for an ideal fluid, the viscosity is zero
