Correct Answer - Option 3 : 2000

Given:

The votes got by looser candidates = 35%

The votes got by winner candidates = 100% – 35% = 65%

Candidates lost the election by 600 votes

Concept used:

Total votes casted = Votes winning candidates got + Votes losing candidates got

Vote difference = Winner candidates vote – Looser candidates vote

Calculation:

According to the question,

Let the number of votes be 'x'

Vote difference = Winner candidates vote - Looser candidates vote

⇒ 65% of x – 35% of x = 600

⇒ 30% of x = 600

⇒ x = 600/(30/100)

⇒ 2000

∴ The total number of votes casted is 2000
