Calculations:

Let the present ages of Ram, Lakshman, and Bharat be 7x, 4x, and 6x respectively.

Required equation:

⇒ (7x - 8) + (4x - 8) + (6x - 8) = 78

⇒ 7x + 4x + 6x – 24 = 78

⇒ 17x = 78 + 24

⇒ 17x = 102

⇒ x = 6

Ram’s present age = 7x = 7 × 6 = 42

Lakshman’s present age = 4x = 4 × 6 = 24

Bharat’s present age = 6x = 6 × 6 = 36
