Correct Answer - Option 1 : It can not repel other magnets

CONCEPT:

  • Permanent magnets: A permanent magnet always causes a force on other magnets, or on magnetic materials.
    • They produce their own magnetic field.
    • Their magnetic field cannot be turned off. It is there all the time.
    • Example: Bar magnets, horseshoe magnets, etc.
  • Induced magnets: An induced magnet only becomes a magnet when it is placed in a magnetic field.
    • When the magnet is removed from the magnetic field, The induced magnetism is quickly lost.
    • They are only attracted by other magnets,
    • They don't show repelling property like permanent magnets.

EXPLANATION:

  • Option 1: Induced magnets can not repel other magnets
  • Option 2: Induced magnets are not permanent magnets
  • Option 3: Induced magnets do have any magnetism when placed in a magnetic field.
  • So the correct statement is option 1.
