Correct Answer - Option 1 : orienting the plane table

Explanation:

Orientation:

(i) It is the process of aligning the plane table by rotating it in the horizontal plane in such a way that all the plotted lines are parallel to the corresponding ground lines.

(ii) However the process of orientation disturbs the centering of the plane table and thus both the processes of centering and orientation are done simultaneously.

(iii) The following methods are used for orienting the plane table

  • Orientation with a Trough compass
  • Orientation by Back sighting
  • Orientation by Two point and Three point problem.
