Correct Answer - Option 1 : Sand fly

Explanation:

  • 'Kala-azar' and 'oriented sore' are diseases spread by the bite of the infected sand fly.
  • Only the female sand flies serve as a vector for these diseases
  • The female sand fly requires blood for the development of its egg, when they suck blood from an infected person or animal they get infected by these parasites.
  • Over a period of between 4 and 25 days, the parasites develop in the sandfly. When the infectious female sandfly then feeds on a fresh source of blood, it inoculates the person or animal with the parasite, and the transmission cycle is completed.
