Ramya borrowed Rs. r from Krishna at the rate of 13% simple interest and Rs. 2r from Mohana at the rate of 26 % simple interest she then added Rs. 82500 with the total amount she borrowed from Krishna and Mohana together and lend it to Soha at the rate of 10% simple interest. The total profit, she received at the end of one year in this process was Rs. 1725. Find the value of r?

Correct Answer - Option 5 : 18642.85

Calculation:

Total money borrowed by Ramya from Krishna = Rs. r = let r be 100a

The total interest paid by her to Krishna = 13% of 100a

⇒ 13a

Total money borrowed by Ramya from Mohana = 2r = So it becomes 200a

The total interest paid by her to Mohana = 26% of 200a

⇒ 52a

Total money she borrowed, = Rs. (100a + 200a)

⇒ Rs. 300a

Total interest she paid = Rs. (13a + 52a)

⇒ Rs. 65a

According to question:

She then added Rs. 82500 with the total amount she borrowed from Krishna and Mohana together and lend to Soha at the rate of 10% simple interest.

(300a + 82500) at 10% SI for 1 year

So, [(30a + 8250) – 65a] = 1725

⇒ 6525 = 35a

⇒ a = 186.4285

So, r = 100a

⇒ 100 × 186.4285

⇒ 18642.85

The value of r is 18642.85.
