Correct Answer - Option 3 : 800

Given:

Required % to pass the exam = 40%

A student scored = 265 marks

Student failed by 55 marks

Calculation:

Let us take the total marks be x

According to the question,

265 + 55 = 40% of x

⇒ 320 = 40/100 of x

⇒ (320 × 100)/40 = x

⇒ 800 = x

∴ The total marks in the said examination is 800.
