Correct Answer - Option 3 : Motivation makes an individual inactive.

The word ‘Motivation’ is originated from a Greek word ‘Movere’ which means ‘motion or ‘to move’. Motivation is an internal force that accelerates a response or behavior. Motivated behavior helps us in seeking equilibrium between the needs and the satisfaction of the students.

  • Motivation involves the existence of a need that moves or drives an individual towards a goal for the satisfaction of the desired need.
  • The behavior is initiated on account of some inherent need. Therefore, the starting point of motivation is the birth of a desire, want, or need of an individual.
  • This need makes an individual thinks about the ways and means of its satisfaction. Need refers to a state of mind that prompts or persuades us to act or behave in a specific way.
  • Motivation refers to the process that:
    • guides an individual to achieve the desired goal.
    • motivates an individual to act or prepare for an action.
    • activates the goal-oriented behaviour in individuals.
    • emphasizes individuals to work for inherent accomplishment.

Hence, it could be concluded that motivation makes an individual inactive is not correct as a characteristic of motivation.
