Correct Answer - Option 2 : 39.7

Given:

The average marks of 100 students are given to be 40

Calculation:

⇒ Before total marks of 100 student = 100 × 40 = 4000

⇒ The difference of marks a student = 83 - 53 = 30

⇒ The new average = (4000 - 30)/100 = 39.7

∴ The required result will be 39.7.
