Correct Answer - Option 2 : 212°F

The correct answer is 212oF.

  • Water boils or vapour condenses at 100 °C (212 °F) while ice melts or water freezes at 0 °C(32 °F), at a pressure of one atmosphere (atm).

  • Water is one of the two official names for the chemical compound H2O along with oxidane.
  • Water (H2O) is a polar inorganic compound is a tasteless and odourless liquid, nearly colourless with a hint of blue at room temperature.
  • The water in a liquid state can be split into the elements of hydrogen and oxygen by passing an electric current through it.
  • This process is called electrolysis.
  • In a lake or ocean, when the water is at 4 °C (39.2 °F) it sinks to the bottom, and ice forms on the upper surface of the lake or ocean, which floats on the liquid water.
  • This ice insulates the water below the surface, preventing it from freezing into solid. Due to this protection only, most aquatic organisms survive during the winter.
  • The refractive index of liquid water is 1.333 at a temperature of 20 °C (68 °F) which is considerably higher than that of air i.e 1.0.
