Give reasons for the following 

"although aluminium is above hydrogen in the electrochemical series, it is stable in air and water."

Aluminium is placed above hydrogen in electrochemical series but resistant to air and water because when Al is exposed in air, therefore, it forms a thin invisible continuous resistant protective film of Al₂O₃. This oxide is highly resistant towards air and water.
