Proteins: Proteins are nutrients that help to build the body and make new cells. They help us in repair of worn-out tissues. They are especially important for growing children=. Milk, eggs, cheese, pulses, meat and fish have lots of proteins. The daily requirements of proteins are about 20 gm. They help in maintenance of our muscles, tendons and ligaments.
