Mixture X = 0.02 mole of [Co(NH3)5 SO4 ]Br and 0.02 mole of[Co(NH3)5 Br]SO4 was prepared in 2 L of Solution

1 L of mixture X +  excess AgNO3 → Y

1 L of mixture X + excess BaCl2 → Z

Number of mole of Y and Z are

(a) 0.01, 0.01

Best answer

Correct option  (a) 0.01, 0.01

  • In 2 L solution, there are 0.02 mol Br- ions and 0.02 mole SO42-
  • :. 1 L of mixture X contains 0.01 mol Br and 0.01 mol SO42- ions.
  • Hence, Y =  0.01 mol Ag Br
  • Z = 0.01 mol BaSO4
