Governor- General Wellesley asked Tipu Sultan to accept the Subsidiary Alliance System. Tipu Sultan refused it. For declining the Alliance System, the Company, with support from the Nizam, attacked Mysore in 1799. During the Fourth Mysore War, Tipu lost his life while fighting against the British.
