
The globe is used as a tool to study the earth. A world map is drawn on the globe. Names of continents, oceans and important latitudes are given on the globe. A globe is a small scale replica of the actual earth, as shown in the adjacent figure.
There are horizontal and vertical lines drawn on the globe. These lines are imaginary. The horizontal lines are knows as ‘Latitudes’, and the vertical lines are known as ‘Longitudes’.
