(i) Reduction of nitroethane using H2 in the presence of Ni or Sn/HCl or Pd/H2.

(ii) Reduction of ethanenitrile using sodium amalgam in ethanol.

(iii) Reduction of acetamide using LiAlH4.

(iv) By Gabriel’s phthalimide synthesis.
