For reaction : SO2(g) + 1/2 O2 (g) ⇌ SO3(g) Kp = 2 x 1012 at 27°C and 1 atm pressure. The Ke for the same reaction is _______ x 1013. (Nearest integer)

(Given R = 0.082 L atm K-1 mol-1)

Best answer

 \(SO_2(g) + \frac{1}{2} O_2 (g)\rightleftharpoons SO_3(g)\)

Given, KP = 2 x 1012 . at 300 k

\(K_p=\frac{P_{SO_3}}{P_{SO_2}\times P^{y^2}_{O^2}}\)

\(K_P=\frac{[SO_3]\times RT}{[SO_2]RT\times[O_2]^{y_2}(RT)^{y_2}}\)

(∵ P = CRT)

\(K_p=\frac{[SO_3]}{[SO_2][O_2]^{Y_2}}\times \frac{RT}{(RT)^{\frac{3}{2}}}\)

\(K_p =K_c\times RT^{\frac{-1}{2}}\)

\(K_C=\frac{[SO_3]}{[SO_2][O_2]^{Y_2}}\)

\(K_C=K_p\times(RT)^{y_2}\)

KC = 2 x 1012 x (0.082 x 300 k)y2

KC = 9.92 x 1012

KC = 0.99 x 1013

KC = 1 x 1013
