Mechanics is the branch of Physics dealing with the study of motion of object.
Many quantities are used in the mechanics but on the basis of magnitude and direction, quantities are classified in the following two parts-
Scalar Quantities: The physical quantities which require only magnitude to express are called scalar quantities, e.g. distance, speed, mass, volume, motion, pressure, energy, etc.
Vector Quantities: The physical quantities which require magnitude and direction both to express are called vector quantities, e.g. displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, momentum, impulse, weight, torque, etc.
