Resolving Power
• Resolving power of an optical instrument is its ability to produce distinct images of two points of an object.
• Resolving power of microscope, \(d = \frac{2n\sin\theta}{1.22 \lambda}\)
• Resolving power of telescope = \(\frac d{1.22 \lambda}\)
where, n = refractive index of the medium between the object & the objective lens and λ = wavelength of light.
