An ideal gas follows a process described by PV2 = C from (P1, V1, T1) to (P2, V2, T2) (C is a constant). Then

 (A)  if P1 > P2  then T2 > T1

(B)  if V2 > V1 then T2 < T1

 (C)  if V2 > V1 then T2 > T1

Best answer

Correct option (B)  if V2 > V1 then T2 < T1

Explanation:

PV2 = C

⇒ (nRT/V) V2 = C

⇒ TV  = C

⇒ TV = C

⇒ T1V1 = T2V2

⇒ If temperature increases, volume decreases and vice versa

⇒ V2 > V1 then T2 < T1.
