In the given figure, DE||BC. If AD = 3 cm, AB = 7 cm and EC = 3cm, then the length of AE is

Correct option is (B) 2.2 cm

In ΔABC

DE || BC

\(\frac{AD}{DB}=\frac{AE}{EC}\) [By Thales Theorem]

\(\frac{3cm}{4cm}=\frac{AE}{3cm}\)

[∵ DB = AB - AD = 7cm - 3cm = 4cm]

AE x 4cm = 3cm x 3cm

AE = \(\frac{3cm \times 3cm}{4cm}\) 

AE = 2.2 cm
