Amoeba is a unicellular organism and the single cell performs all functions like digestion, excretion, respiration, growth and reproduction. A cell is the smallest unit of a living organism where the metabolic processes occur to keep the organism alive.

Hence, the cell is considered as the fundamental unit of living organism.
