Tropic hormones are hormones that have other endocrine glands as their target. Most tropic hormones are produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary. Tropic hormones from the anterior pituitary include Thyroid-stimulating hormone, Adrenocorticotropic hormone, Growth hormones.

When the secretion of hormone is controlled by some factors or other hormones is called as feedback control. It can be both positive and negative. When the hormone secretion is amplified by its own secretion is called as positive feedback. When a high level of particular hormone inhibits their further secretion is called as negative feedback. TSH stimulates normal development and secretion of the thyroid gland. Thyroid releasing hormone (TRH) from the hypothalamus stimulates TSH release. Thyroid hormone exerts negative feedback control of both TRH and TSH.
