Alcohols exhibit following types of isomerism.

(iii) Functional isomerism : Alcohols are functional isomers of ethers, e.g. C2H5OH (ethyl alcohol) and CH3.O.CH3 (dimethyl ether).
Thus on the whole, the molecular formula C4H10O represents 7 isomers, of which four are alcohols and three are ethers.
