Heatstroke is a severe heat-related condition and can even be life-threatening. It is caused when the body’s cooling mechanism fails due to excessive heat and humidity. Impairment in sweat gland function may be another cause of heatstroke. Symptoms In heatstroke, the body temperature is more than 104° F. Fever may cause headache, dizziness, fatigue, fluctuating blood pressure and irritability. First Aid Shift the person to a cool place. Cool the person by sponging her/him with a wet towel. Apply ice packs in armpits and groin. Give lukewarm water with electrolyte.
