According to the Bohr model of the atom, the velocity of an electron decreases linearly as the principal quantum number increases, which can be derived from the postulates of the Bohr model. According to the Bohr model of the H atom the electron moves around the proton in a circular path with radius of 53 pm at a speed of 2.2×10⁶ m/s.
