Choose the correct statement for processes A & B shown in figure.

statement for processes A & B shown in figure

(1) \(pV^{\gamma}\) = k for process B and PV = k for process A.

(2) PV = k for process B and A

(3) \(\frac {P^{\gamma -1}}{T^{\gamma}}\) = k for process B and T = k for process A.

(4) \(\frac {T ^{\gamma}}{P^{\gamma -1}}\) = k for process A and pV = k for process B.

Best answer

Correct option is 1 & 3

Steeper curve (B) is adiabatic

Adiabatic \(\Rightarrow \,PV^v = const.\)

Or \(P(\frac {T}{P})^v =\) const.

\(\frac {T^v}{P^{v-1}}=\) const.

Curve (A) is isothermal

T = const.

PV = const.
